At our meeting this week, it was the turn of IT specialist, Lee Bishop, owner of Newburgh Networks, to tell us about his business. Lee tells us that he studied graphic design and latterly typography at college where he became a licensed member of the Society of Typographic Designers, but quickly dropped the STD after his name!
He worked for a small printing and design company in Salisbury in 2000 which in the following 9 years grew into a national group of printing companies and went from 8 employees to approximately 600, before its collapse in December 2008. His role there changed as much by desire as choice, into a full time IT Management position.
After spending 6 months looking for a new job during the credit crunch, he decided finding customers would be easier than finding a new job and started Newburgh Networks. He offers thanks to the past members, visitors and current members of Network Dorset for helping get him to where he is today.
He also urged us to stay awake for his 10 minutes as he offered a summary of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and how our IT can help with your GDPR compliance journey.
Plus, it was another fantastic meeting – here’s some stats:
- 8 Business Opportunity Slips exchanged
- £2060.00 in thank yous for business done in the last week
